This work was created during my 4 month community artist in residency at the Prairie Center for the Arts in Peoria, IL.
hand constructed with staples, price tag attacher, beads and monofiliament. Suspended inches from the floor, floating and gently undulating.
The lotus blooms in still water, a space for self reflection and peace--a condition of absolute happiness, free from fear. The Lotus Sutra asserts Buddha nature is inherent in all life as well as in the thousand hours of disregarded handwork presented here, joined with bits of useless paper packaging, suspended in a state just above, but in subtle contact to our own. An invitation to engage in a soft inner space in the midst of activity.
